Breakfast was hot and had plenty of choice. We arrived at 8:45 and were seated straight away without booking a slot. The rooms were clean and practical, with space for four in the family room. Bar staff were friendly and let us bring takeaway food into the bar as long as we bought drinks, since the restaurant had closed. We were a large group of adults and children taking part in the Tattoo, and the daytime reception team seemed to keep checking up on us, especially at breakfast. More than one of us noticed, and it felt unnecessary since everyone behaved impeccably. If you’re heading to the arena, allow 35 minutes to walk there, not 20.

The reception team were incredibly kind and helpful, and the hotel is less than a 10-minute drive from the airport. Breakfast was simple but satisfying. I asked Timmy for an omelette and he made a really tasty one, and even helped with my diet menu, a lovely touch 🤓. Good coffee and soy milk rounded off a bright start to the day.

A decent hotel in a handy spot close to the NEC and airport. Parking costs quite a bit at £15/day, though I understand that given the location. The rooms are standard Premier Inn, nothing special. The restaurant and bar get very busy when there are events on. It isn’t made clear, but I’d book a table ahead. We bought the meal deal, but couldn’t use it on a Friday night because there were no tables. Otherwise, I’d recommend it.

The restaurant service was a mess during our five-night work stay at Premier Inn Birmingham Airport. We waited about 45 minutes for drinks each evening, despite asking several times. Starters took around an hour, and a burger or pizza took more than two hours in total. One time dessert arrived before the drinks, starters, or mains. It felt seriously disorganised and poorly managed. The rooms smelled unpleasant, the carpets were odorous, and the beds didn’t seem properly cleaned. Basic hygiene was not being maintained, and the heating didn’t work properly either. Reception staff were dismissive and unhelpful, sometimes openly disrespectful. The attitude toward paying guests and lack of professionalism were shocking. This was one of our most disappointing hotel stays. Other Premier Inn locations we’ve used were much better, and we wouldn’t recommend this one based on what we experienced.

The staff were brilliant throughout, working non-stop while staying friendly and helpful, even with the hotel packed for the Motorhome and Caravan Show and guests heading to the NEC and airport. We slept comfortably, though planes taking off disturbed us in the morning. Breakfast, included in the package, was tasty with a good range of choices. We had to switch rooms on the first night because of a constant noise we think came from the electrics or circuit breakers. Reception sorted it quickly. There was also a dinner booking mix-up, we’d been booked for the following night, but the restaurant team still found us a table. Service was slow because it was so busy, but the food was very good, the meal package was great value, and drinks were fairly priced. A good stay, and I’d come back when visiting the NEC or using the airport.
