Snow Hill station is only a few minutes' walk away, and the hotel is right in the centre of town. We had a spacious room with a very comfortable bed and pillows, plus an iron, safe and gown. There was semi-skimmed milk in the fridge, so we could make proper tea and coffee, and the bathroom had Penhaligons toiletries. Breakfast was amazing, with a cold continental buffet and hot à la carte choices with a twist, like Hash Brown Eggs Benedict. The only downside was that our room got cold on the second night and the heating wouldn't stay on. Staff were helpful and brought up a heater. Parking at B4 parking was half price, about an eight-minute walk away, once we logged the number plate at reception. Highly recommend.

The Madeleine bar staff were incredible while we were fasting. They treated us with real respect and sensitivity, were thoughtful, and gave us the space we needed. Everyone was very courteous and hospitable. Thanks as well to the concierge staff for letting us use the prayer room.

The room was wonderfully quiet, with a comfortable bed, a good shower and a coffee maker. We also made use of the small gym, which did the job. Breakfast at Isaac’s came with tasty smoothies and a choice of cooked-to-order or self-serve food, served by really friendly staff. The Grand Hotel Birmingham is in a great spot and felt like very good value for our one-night stay. The restored building is beautiful, and I loved seeing artwork throughout. Thanks for a fantastic visit!

Being close to Symphony Hall, the ICC and NIA made this a handy base for central Birmingham shopping and events. We found the bar stylish with a great atmosphere, and ate well at the hotel restaurant, Isaac's. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated, while the breakfast menu had plenty to choose from. The decor does a lovely job of mixing the building's old-world character with a more contemporary feel. What a fantastic hotel!

The hotel is stunning, and we were seated in the gorgeous bar at a lovely table with big, comfy armchairs. The afternoon tea food was outstanding and generous, and we enjoyed every tea we tried from the great selection. Service was just okay. The staff took care of what was needed, but didn't feel especially warm, friendly or attentive. That's why I was a bit annoyed to see a 12.5% service charge added automatically.
