The restaurant food was nothing special, though reasonably priced for the area, and there are other places to eat within walking distance. The hotel itself was clean and functional, with professional, helpful staff. You can hear aircraft because it’s beside an airport. I was also kept awake by creaking floors from the room above, where the occupants seemed to move around a lot. If you arrive by public transport, the shuttle to departures is part of the parking deal, so you can’t use it. Your only real option is a taxi, about 1.5 miles and roughly £10.

My room was fine for what I expected. I’d booked one on the top floor for an airport view, and paid extra to choose a specific room. The shower gel dispenser had an issue, which I mentioned to reception, but it wasn’t a major problem. The TV signal was a little weak too, though I could still watch the Brits without trouble. I don’t get why people find the parking hard to work out. It’s very simple on the NCP website. Anyone calling this place bad is delirious.

The airport isn’t right next to the accommodation, so you’ll need a short taxi or bus ride. Buses come frequently and the stop is basically outside. It’s a great option for a long layover or an early flight: affordable for the quality and comfort, with very comfortable rooms, en-suite showers and towels. I’d recommend it to travellers looking for a short, comfortable break.

Staff were excellent, and discounted parking made this good value as a practical base for a short stay. The rooms are tired, though, and the TV is tiny with a poor signal. We paid extra for a quiet room, but road and aircraft noise were still clearly audible, though bearable, and could bother light sleepers. Breakfast was convenient and adequate, but a bit pricey for what you got.
