New Royal Windsor Hotel

The room was basic, but clean and comfortable, and we had the sea view I'd asked for. I stayed in a double room with my 5 year old son and we both enjoyed it. Staff were friendly and let me leave our bags there later, so we could spend more time in Blackpool. Good quality for a budget price, and very family friendly.

We paid £31 for one night and £10 for parking, so I really can't complain. The room was quiet, clean and didn't smell, with clean bedding, towels, a TV, kettle and tea, plus a small place to hang clothes. It was a double at the back, a couple of floors up. We only slept there one night, so a sea view didn't matter. The bathroom was small and nothing special, but usable for a short stay. Staff were polite and helpful, and the seafront location is a bonus. The £50 cash deposit makes sense to me at that price. I've read some reviews that seem a little harsh. Our stay was fine and I'd come back for one night. For longer, I'd definitely pay more for somewhere else.

The staff made us feel comfortable, and the location was great, right in the middle and close to a tram stop. Reception was lovely at check-in and check-out, and the man at the bar was so friendly with my kids and the other children. My two, aged 8 and 9, have special needs, and I was worried they might be noisy, but I felt relaxed. There was entertainment on too. The rooms were clean with fresh linen, and the TV had loads of channels. Free WiFi was great for all of us. It felt cosy and comfortable, and the sea view was lovely for the price. We paid £140 for two nights, and the £50 deposit was understandable and returned with no trouble. There's a small car park at the back and we found a space. The hotel is older and run down, and carrying our suitcases up several flights of stairs was hard with no lift. I think they would have helped if I'd asked. We asked about staying an extra night, but Saturday was £140 for one night. It'd be nice to have a deal for guests who want to extend. I would have paid £70, which seems better than leaving it empty. I'd go back and recommend it.

The location and view were the only good parts. The hotel looks nothing like the photos, unless they were taken maybe 10 years ago. It's very worn down. They asked for a £50 deposit on arrival, and the room had holes in the walls and ceiling lights hanging down. The carpet was dirty, and there was a terrible smell from the bathroom. We told staff, but he said he couldn't smell it. The room was so hot and the smell so bad that we packed up and drove back to Scotland just 7 hours after arriving. We lost £55, and they give no refunds whatever the circumstances. Don't waste your money.
