The spa didn't give us the chance to relax either. It felt like a busy public pool, with children everywhere, and we heard spa members openly complain that hotel guests were “ruining” their experience. That left us feeling very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Our package at Last Drop Village Hotel & Spa included a two-course meal, breakfast and spa access for a night away with my partner. Holly at reception was lovely when we arrived and couldn't do enough for us, but the rest of the experience disappointed from the start. We were told our restaurant meal had been downgraded to a meal in the pub, which was frustrating because eating in the restaurant was a main reason we'd booked. The pub felt more like a loud social club, with drunk tradesmen and screaming children. The menu was very limited, with hardly any choice if you don't like pies. This wasn't the relaxing break we'd paid for. We left within three hours. If you're after good food and a tranquil spa, I'd advise avoiding this place.

The spa and pool were the best part, clearly five star. The staff were friendly, the area was clean, and the saunas were great, with a good range from aromatherapy to a steam room and a nice outdoor Jacuzzi. The spa staff do their jobs very well, and one woman was full of praise for the treatments. The bar is why I don't feel like returning. On one visit, we waited 20 minutes for coffee. On another, we had £40 remaining on a £100 voucher, which we'd been told we could spend in the bar or restaurant. At the restaurant bar, the man said they didn't allow it and didn't seem to want us there. We were confused, but not surprised. After the coffee wait, I wasn't keen on the menu anyway. Why sell £100 Spa Day vouchers and tell people the credit can be used in the restaurant? I'd skip the vouchers and just pay the £30 per person for the spa.

The spa was fab, and both the pool and hydrotherapy pool were very clean. My bed was super comfy, and dinner and breakfast were delicious. Mia was especially attentive to my vegetarian needs at breakfast. The reception staff were lovely too. My friend took me for an overnight stay for my birthday next week. Thanks, Shirley. We also bought some lovely gifts at the artisan “village” behind the hotel.

The spa is filthy and only works half the time. It's packed with kids, and staff make you leave before the paid time is up. When you complain, they treat you like dirt. I won't return to this horrible place. I had rude, abusive staff, especially the manager Nicola, and the hotel managers were no help after I complained. It's not worth what they charge. Nicola's behaviour towards customers on multiple occasions is astounding, and I don't understand why she's paid a salary for it. There's a sign at reception saying “show us respect” or something similar, which says a lot about their attitude to customers. The whole management needs replacing and a new culture brought in. There are clear problems with attitude, motivation and basic respect. Don't visit. The front of the building looks nice, but it's a horrible place.

The facial and head massage were AMAZING, and I had no problems in any of the spa areas. They also accommodated my wheat allergy without any fuss. It was a lovely spa day with afternoon tea and great staff. Only a small niggle: there's just one hairdryer in the changing room that works properly, so be ready to wait for it. Not a big issue.
