Best Western Plus The Connaught Hotel & Spa

I stayed with my daughter for a spa break and was very impressed with both the room and the facilities. The staff were so friendly and polite, and Miguel deserves a special mention for checking that we were enjoying our stay. There’s parking on site, and I couldn’t fault anything. Highly recommend.

The afternoon tea was good value, with tasty food, a nice atmosphere and attentive staff. We enjoyed the sandwiches and delicious cakes, and getting to choose between cheese and chive, fruit or plain scones was a nice touch. I’d definitely recommend it.

The location was great, and the room had a comfy bed. But it was extremely hot. We tried the aircon and opened the windows, with no luck. The bath water was barely lukewarm too. The only time it reached a suitable temperature was at 1 in the morning.

I booked afternoon tea, an overnight stay, a treatment and breakfast for my son and his partner through spabreaks. The cream tea was awful: the scones were so stale they couldn’t eat them, and the cream was so hard you could chew it. Their room was disgusting, with a filthy, mouldy bathroom, hairs all over the bed, dirty door frames and dirt on the window frames. The carpet was so dirty they didn’t feel comfortable going barefoot. They were offered another room, but after seeing the first one, I understand why they didn’t want to stay. My son called me upset, and I emailed and phoned the hotel while they waited in the car park. The hotel won’t put this right. I’d stay well clear. Shame you can’t add pictures.
