Bourne Hall Hotel

A friend recommended the hotel, but I had a really unpleasant stay. A strong, foul smell made it hard to be there, the hallways were constantly loud with shouting, and the kitchen was so dirty it was impossible to cook. The caretaker, an Indian guy, was busy with guests and adding to the noise. People go to hotels to relax, so I don’t know how they can expect anyone to find a quiet space. This was my first hotel experience that nearly gave me a heart attack. When I complained, staff seemed indifferent and said, “What can we do? They’re making noise in their rooms.” Completely unacceptable and infuriating.

I was scared for my safety and health the whole time. There was black mold above the bed, the bathroom was disgusting, and the whole hotel was filthy and stank. Staff were helpful, but the owners were rude and seemed happy to put a single female guest in danger. Only after I threatened to report the mold did they try to move me to a sister hotel. It was a little cleaner there, but still damp, foul-smelling and generally disgusting. This place has serious health risks and needs to be condemned.

I complained about a loud party in the next room at 2 AM, and the manager just asked what he was supposed to do about it. Maybe his job? The staff were the rudest and most unprofessional I’ve ever encountered. The front desk clerk sighed and rolled her eyes as if checking me in was a personal inconvenience. When I asked housekeeping for extra towels, they acted like I’d asked for a kidney transplant. The only hospitality I got was from the cockroach that waved at me from the bathroom. Never again.

We paid an expensive price for a pretty poor experience. One of the rooms we booked was fine, but the other hadn’t been prepared: rubbish was still in the bin, the bed wasn’t made, and it didn’t smell very nice. After our friend fell and got injured, staff couldn’t provide first aid and only handed us the first aid box. Our friend went to A&E, so we didn’t end up using the rooms, but we only got a refund for one. We also tried calling the emergency number on the sign outside multiple times with no answer.
