Mount Stuart Hotel

The receptionist was friendly and the bed was comfortable, but the room was tiny and not full. The hotel is dated and needs investment. The car park was uneven, and I don’t think guests should have to pay for it. Breakfast was sparse, and I had to ask for tea and coffee. The pastries came in plastic wrappers, and the toast smelled funky. There were marks on the quilt covers.

We had to wait outside for 15 minutes when we arrived because nobody was at reception, and that made us late for a nearby restaurant booking. The room was dirty, and the toilet was dirty and hadn’t been flushed. They also charged £5 for parking even though the booking app said it was free. Wouldn’t stay again.

We were put in a room under the hotel that felt like a low-quality dorm. One TV shared between two rooms didn’t work, the drawers were old and worn out, and the room was generally unpleasant to look at. The manager was the worst part, rude and made the whole experience horrible. Wouldn’t recommend.

The staff were friendly and the hotel itself seemed fine, but our ground-floor room was damp and cold. The wallpaper was peeling, the bed creaked and was uncomfortable, and there was no hot water. The TV didn’t work properly, and the bathroom towel rail was rusty. I can’t comment on the hot breakfast, despite what the hotel said was available.
