The Down Inn

We had a really enjoyable two nights at the Downs Inn. The staff were friendly and helpful, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. Our rooms were quiet, clean and warm, and the food was excellent with plenty to choose from. We had the carvery one evening and steak and kidney pie the next, both with generous servings. There was so much food we barely had room for dessert. Breakfast was cooked both mornings, with cereal available too if you wanted it. I’d recommend this pub and hotel without hesitation.

There were seven of us coming back from shopping in Ludlow, and although we’d booked for 5pm, we arrived earlier than planned. They were happy to fit us in. The wood-burning fire made the place feel especially welcoming, and the atmosphere was lovely. Service was excellent and the food came in generous portions and tasted delicious. We’ll be back and will recommend it to family and friends.

We’d enjoyed this place before, so came back for lunch and a pint. The traditional menu and lovely location were just as we remembered, and the relaxed, subdued atmosphere and dark wood give it a homely feel. We were made to feel welcome, portions were large and the food was great value. Prices are surprisingly low for the area, which is no complaint from me. Lots of local clubs meet here too, which says a lot. We’ll definitely return, it’s a bang-on place.

A nice experience, and it wasn’t busy when we arrived. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff were attentive and very helpful. We had a three-course family meal and everything was spot on. I had the carvery and tried three meats, all really tender. Good value too.
