My experience at this hostel was really, really bad. I actually thought it would be a nice place, but I was very disappointed. I asked to change rooms because someone had been aggressive towards me, and they put me alone in an isolated room with no hot water and windows that couldn’t be opened. Completely ELLEGAL!!! When I asked again to move, receptionist Marlo refused, saying it was too much effort for her and suggesting I make a complaint. I agreed, and Marlo gave me an ultimatum: leave or she’d call security. This was three days before my checkout. I spoke to the manager about Marlo’s behaviour and was told Marlo was under too much stress, so I should be understanding after what she’d done to me? One person seemed unable to understand and do her job properly, at least in line with customer care in hospitality, while the manager asked me to have sympathy for her. And that wasn’t all. When I contacted aohostels for a refund, a&o Brighton Beach lied to them about the dates and effectively stole two nights of my refund, Friday and Saturday, bread and butter for hostel income. Absolute deception. These people are unbelievable, run by ego-driven personas. What a lot of BS!

The scaffolding around the building was unexpected, but it didn’t affect our visit. Staff were attentive and very helpful throughout. We had a brilliant stay at A&O Brighton and would definitely recommend it.

For the price I paid, this hostel was incredible value. It’s right on the seafront, offers free Wi-Fi, and reception is staffed around the clock. The guest kitchen is well organised, and we had a huge, clean room with a private bathroom and bath. Staff were extremely helpful. A proper chair and desk would’ve been nice, but I’m not complaining given the cost.

A relaxed atmosphere, solid facilities and an unbeatable location make this a well-run hostel. The rooms were clean, functional and well maintained, and I thought the value was great. Staff were friendly and professional, making check-in and the rest of the stay smooth and welcoming. a&o Brighton Beach is right in the heart of Brighton, just steps from the beach, pier and lively streets. For somewhere central, affordable and reliable, it’s an easy recommendation.

The location was amazing, the beds were comfortable and the staff were friendly. We also thought the kitchen and bar facilities were very good. It got a bit noisy at times from creaking floorboards above, and parking wasn’t available, which was inconvenient. We found a nearby car park on Just Park. Otherwise, everything was great.
