Best Western Victoria Square

We stayed in the family room, which had everything we needed. They even provided a dog bed and bowl for our hound, which was a nice touch. The hotel is old-fashioned but in a good location, with car parking. Breakfast was poor: the cooked food was very average, the buffet selection wasn't good, and the waitress didn't ask if we wanted more coffee.

The staff were especially kind and attentive. I left my AirPods behind, and they helped get them back to me so quickly. The room was lovely and clean, with a spacious bathroom and a great shower. I'd definitely stay again.

It's a quiet, excellent location, close to Clifton Village, its nice restaurants and shops, with a park opposite. There's parking at the back, a bus stop outside and a grocery shop nearby. The rooms are a bit dated, but the staff are welcoming. Breakfast was average.

The service was terrible, and the staff were rude. At check-in I was told our room was at a kind of basement level. The staff member kept saying it was just a lower floor because of the slope of the land. I explained I have a medical condition and can't stay in a basement room, but she continued to insist it wasn't one. When we reached the room in the adjacent building, it was below ground level and very damp. I went back to ask for another room, but the receptionist argued with me instead of helping. I said I'd already told the hotel about the issue through Booking.com, but when we checked, the message didn't appear to have come through. Rather than find a solution, the staff member just said, “It’s not my fault.” The young woman at reception was quite rude. Eventually she found us another room, but only reluctantly. She seemed more interested in arguing than assisting. There were also dirty plates and food leftovers on the reception desk, which was unpleasant and unprofessional. The receptionist was eating from a container there, giving the impression she didn't want to help because she was trying to get back to her meal. Staff should eat in an appropriate area and at an appropriate time. The second room was on the top floor, poorly ventilated and full of old furniture, and many bathroom items were rusty. We were very disappointed with the stay.
