Doubletree by Hilton Bristol North

The lobby lounge had a cosy feel, and it was nice to sit there with a drink from the bar. We also appreciated the clear message with all the useful details, including restaurant, breakfast and bar hours, plus checkout time. At check-in, we asked about a complimentary upgrade and were kindly given a better room. Even so, there was no smart TV. The room had bathrobes to wear to the spa, but I wouldn’t recommend the spa, especially if that’s the main reason you’re considering this hotel. Paid parking is available, so keep that in mind. I also would have liked basic bathroom items such as cotton buds. Decent stay, with some things that could be better.

I probably won’t remember the room decor, but I will remember Abi. She served us at dinner and was genuine, approachable, and professional, a real asset to the hotel. The woman at reception was charming too. The room was clean and perfectly acceptable, and the warm cookie on arrival was a lovely reminder of which chain I was staying with. Otherwise, the hotel itself could have been anywhere.

We had a lovely room and couldn’t fault it. My brother is disabled and needs an accessible wet room, but unfortunately we were first given the wrong room. We spoke with management, who were lovely and easy to approach, and they sorted it out very quickly. They also asked if we needed help with our bags or anything else, and the rest of the staff were just as accommodating. We said we’d come back when we left, and I’ve given it five stars because there was nothing else to fault.

Lee at reception was so friendly and helpful, and made me feel welcome. The staff were excellent. My room was large, with a strong shower, coffee machine and fridge, and the air conditioning was quiet. Breakfast was good too. Some parts of the hotel interior look a bit dated, but it was fine overall.
