We had a lovely evening meal, and I’d recommend the fish cakes. The pub is welcoming and has a good range of real ales and other beers. Staff were all friendly and polite, and made us feel at home. Breakfast was very good with plenty to choose from, though I was still full from dinner, so the smashed avocado on toast with Cornish eggs suited me perfectly. My husband went for a huge full English. It’s a charming old inn just off the M5. Our room was clean, the bed super comfortable, and it had everything you’d expect from a four-star hotel. We’ll definitely be back.

A real pub and guest house tucked away in a charming village. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the menu is on the smaller side but hearty, and the beer was very solid. It’s a short drive to Airbus Filton, about 9 minutes straight through or up to 20 with traffic, and Rolls-Royce is even closer. Good access to South Wales too. I’d definitely go again, though I’d quite like to keep this gem to myself for getting to the Filton side!

Our dog was welcomed with open arms, and Jessica looked after us so well, with a lovely manner and smile. The food was well presented and cooked just right, with a good choice on the menu. The Bowl Inn is a beautiful traditional country pub, warm and cosy. It was our first visit, but it certainly won’t be the last. Well done to all the staff, we’ll be back.

We stopped in after climbing Pen Y Fan for a well-earned Sunday roast, and it was a great find. There were plenty of choices for everyone in our group, including the vegan and pescetarian among us. The food was delicious, the service was lovely, and the roast portions were generous. It’s a lovely little place, not far off the motorway and worth the detour. I’ve got a foodie friend in Chepstow, so I’ll bring him next time. Highly recommend.

Such a lovely cottage-style pub, with a nice, relaxed feel and a pleasant mix of locals. The staff are lovely too. The upper terrace outside is great in summer and still not too bad in winter. It can get busy, though, and the main bar often fills up with people having food, so don’t count on finding a seat there.
