We were shocked by the room and left just 15 minutes after checking in. They kindly refunded the second night only. The pictures may have been taken years ago, because the room was completely different and decadent. The listing mentioned pub noise, which was understandable, but said nothing about the smell, dirt and damp. The bedframe was dirty, the walls damp, there was mould in the shower, and a mark from what they described as an historic leak was on the wall. It looked like something else and was impossible to avoid brushing against when getting into bed. If they don’t intend to fix an historic leak because they think it’s only an aesthetic problem, it could at least be mentioned and shown in the advert. From my point of view, the marketing was misleading.

I’m here most weekends and find it comfortable and reasonably priced. Good to see pubs like this still going in today’s climate.

The Long Room worked really well for a gathering of around 40 people for my 36th birthday at the Dark Horse. It was a great size for a medium-sized party, and the staff were really helpful. We all had a blast, thank you!

It’s a delightful pub with great beer and excellent outdoor seating. The bedroom, though, was pretty awful: signs of damp, a worn-out kettle, and a TV smaller than the bracket it sat on, with cables dangling. The bed was comfortable, but some springs were broken. The bathroom was good. I wouldn’t recommend staying overnight.

A cosy pub with nice decor and a relaxed atmosphere. The main road brings constant traffic noise. We were charged different amounts for rounds of the same drinks. The toilets were clean.
