The beds were comfortable, and I found the old building charming, even though the sloping floor made me dizzy whenever I got up. Our room also had a tiny bathroom and a TV about the size of two tablets. We’d come for an overnight stay, but there was no nearby parking that allowed overnight stays, so we rented a spot in someone’s driveway through a Google link and carried our things more than a quarter mile to the inn. Online check-in was listed as 1:30, but we were told it was 3 when we arrived, so we went off to pass the time. At least the place is right by the town square, with shops and places to eat. As a pub for lunch and a drink it seems fine, but my husband and I agreed we wouldn’t choose to stay there again. If you’re young, up for an adventure, and want to be close to a fun pub, it might suit you.

We stopped in during our Cotswold Way walk and wished we’d booked a room here. The mix of locals and tourists or walkers gives the place a welcoming feel, and you can settle in for a quiet pint or have a friendly chat. For staff, beer quality and atmosphere, it’s one of the best pubs we’ve visited, and easily the best on the Cotswold Way.

It feels like a proper local pub where everyone seems to know each other, but visitors still get a very warm welcome. I’ll be back. Just be aware there are dogs around if that’s not your thing.

Met some friends here for Saturday lunch and had a very good pint alongside pub food that was spot on. It’s a great traditional pub, and the service was first class, with plenty of polite, attentive staff.

We found this attractive looking pub while out for the day in the Cotswolds and decided to try the food. The fish batter had very little fish inside, it was barely edible, and there were only seven chips on the plate. The lasagne had no layers and seemed dry, as if it had been left out and reheated. We explained what was wrong and they refunded one meal, which was good of them, but the food quality didn’t justify the price.
