The Globe Inn

The bathroom was a wet room with no sloped floor, so showering left the whole floor flooded, and it stayed that way. There was no milk with the tea bags, and the room had no toiletries, not even soap. When I asked later, I was told supplying it was “too expensive.” For more than £80 a night, that’s ridiculous. We also had a toilet that didn’t flush all weekend. After we reported it, we returned to a flooded bathroom with towels dumped on the floor, and the toilet was still broken. The room itself was extremely basic and poor value. Although it calls itself a B&B, breakfast wasn’t included and had to be booked in advance. Nobody mentioned that when we booked or checked in. We only spotted a small note on the back of the door the next morning. Before arrival, our emails went unanswered. We had to pay the full bill upfront, and I only got the gate code by asking. Otherwise, we could have been locked out all night. After I complained, they promised a partial refund, but it was just £20 on a £160 bill. Avoid The Globe Inn. No communication, breakfast, working toilet, soap, or value for money. Book somewhere else.

We stayed one night and had dinner here, and both the food and the room were lovely. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean and tidy. It’s a traditional country pub with a great atmosphere. The barman and landlady were fantastic and very friendly. A little gem, and I’d happily come back.

Our precious chocolate labrador was made very welcome, and the staff and locals were friendly too. We had a lovely Sunday dinner, with the plate piled high.

Right in the centre of town, so really convenient. People were wonderfully friendly: two different people came over to ask what I needed, and one guest introduced himself straight away.
