The waiter was really accommodating with us and our 3 year old, and we had a great dinner at Seafield Arms. We were visiting from London, so we went for Scottish dishes: white and black pudding Bon Bon with a lovely sauce, then haggis, neeps and tatties and a ham hock pie. The haggis went very well with a smooth Italian red, though I’m sorry I didn’t catch the name. We started with the local IPA Sunshine on Keith, which was smooth and not too strong in ABV. Even on a wet January day, Cullen is definitely worth visiting. There’s a wall by the exit showing celebrities from music and movies who’ve been there, including Matt Damon and Sir David Jason. We had a good look before leaving. We stayed nearby by the sea, not at the hotel, so I can’t comment on the rooms. Recommended.

We left most of the roast gammon uneaten, and the three of us who ordered it all found it heavy and stodgy. The plates were piled with gammon, stuffing, pineapple, a black pudding fritter, parsnips, Brussels sprouts, huge roast potatoes and gravy, with no balance or finesse. It was £25.90 each. The children's burgers were dry and unappetising too. We had booked Christmas Eve dinner at The Seafield Arms expecting a festive feel and food to match the premium prices. Instead, the room was nearly empty, with barely any Christmas atmosphere. Several starters and mains, including the seafood trio, were unavailable. I asked if they could make prawn cocktails instead, and was told yes. What came was five king prawns on a little dry, tired lettuce with a small amount of Marie Rose sauce. There was no care or presentation, and at £11.95 each it felt like the cheapest possible version. When we raised the meal with the “manager” at payment, all we got was, “we’ll feed it back to the chef.” There was no apology, discussion, attempt to sort things out, or adjustment to the bill. For a £180 spend, that indifference was unacceptable. After reading other TripAdvisor reviews, the hotel's standard reply seems to be a generic “sorry to hear your visit wasn’t as you expected.” That fits our experience of low standards, poor management, no accountability and no real interest in improvement. Expensive and disappointing from beginning to end. We won’t return and can’t recommend The Seafield Arms. Feedback may be the breakfast of champions, but it seems to be ignored here.

The Seafield Arms Hotel was the highlight for us. It’s in great shape and seems to have owners who care. We had dinner in the bar in a lovely atmosphere, with considerate, professional staff looking after us. My wife chose the Sunday beef roast and I had the chicken schnitzel. Both were very good, and the meal was good value. We live in Nairn and came away in our campervan for a couple of nights. Cullen’s campsite is right by the seafront and nice and quiet this time of year. The town is a gem too, with good walks and small streets lined with all sorts of independent shops, including antiques. Thanks for a delightful evening.

We had plenty to eat and drink at Bar19 last night, and we’ll definitely be back soon. The food was fantastic, with just a couple of minor niggles, and the ambience felt just right. Service was excellent. Hats off to the seafield arms, you’ve got this spot on!

The Lower Mews room worked very well for me as a wheelchair user during our recent two-night stay. It’s spacious and all on one level, with radiators that were easy to adjust. We could park right outside, and the bathroom is small but good, with a wet room and plenty of grab rails. Although the hotel sits on a hill, there are two entrances for access. The staff were very helpful, the food was very good, and breakfast was lovely. We’d definitely recommend the hotel in such a lovely place.
