The pub's spot overlooking the village green is lovely, and we'd happily stay again. We spent two nights in a room in the separate building beside the pub. It was a good size for us, with a walk-in shower, plenty of towels, soap and shower gel, plus tea-making things, two large bottles of water, eye masks and earplugs. The staff were friendly and very polite, and did all they could to help. The car park was busy, so I couldn't find a space at first, but managed to get one a bit later. There was no food being served at the pub, though we could get a meal elsewhere in the village. For the price, I'd say it was good value.

We met friends here for drinks and found the pub really welcoming. It's lovely, with great views across the area.
There was plenty of outdoor seating, which would be great in warmer weather, and we've already decided to come back when we're nearby. We stopped here about halfway through our circular walk between clare and Cavendish. The beer selection on tap was decent, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There was a cute little dog too. We enjoyed the snack menu, and my friends' platter for two was enormous, so good value. The rugby was on TV as we were leaving.
You feel at ease as soon as you walk into this restored village pub. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and there are small rooms to rent beside the pub. They don't serve food, but the atmosphere and hospitality make up for it. There are several real ales and other drinks. The Five Bells takes its name from the church bells next door, which have rung on time for decades. To me, they're part of the countryside, though I can see how others might find them annoying.
The welcome is warm and the beer is good at this updated traditional Suffolk pub. It's a lovely place, though it doesn't serve food, so we went to the George just down the road. They also rent out rooms, but I didn't find the bed very comfortable. The eye mask helps with the searchlight-like emergency exit light and the skylight in the high ceiling, which has no blind. Earplugs give you some relief from the church bells next door, chiming every 15 mins in a Westminster peel.
