Black Boy Inn

The relaxed but lively feel at The Black Boy Inn made for a great visit, and the team were welcoming throughout. Our food came out hot, fresh, and full of flavour, with a good choice of beers poured just right. You can see how much care goes into the place. Definitely a top spot nearby for a proper pint and a good meal. Highly recommend! 🍻

We were happy to pay the above-average prices for the experience. The pub has a homely, traditional feel, with original furnishings, ornaments, and real fires, all kept in good order. It’s the sort of place where you want to linger for hours. We didn’t stay overnight, so can’t comment on the rooms, but they looked well maintained from the courtyard.

We both left full and happy. I had a really tasty lamb shank, and my wife enjoyed her lovely pie, both served piping hot. The restaurant looked good and felt very cosy, at least in the first room on the right. Prices weren’t cheap, but they weren’t outrageous either. Highly recommended!

We came in for food and drinks around 4 pm on New Year’s Eve. There were plenty of seats in the stables area, a large, cavernous space with a mix of table sizes. They hold some tables for walk-ins alongside a limited number of pre-bookings. I came back to the bar around 11:45 pm and got a friendly welcome from the bar team for the midnight countdown.
