Holiday Inn Express Cambridge West Cambourne

The hotel seems newly built, and the room was good quality for the price. There’s plenty of parking, a spacious lobby, and you need a keycard for the lifts. Staff were friendly, the atmosphere was good, and I enjoyed staying here. Cambourne itself wasn’t as appealing. Food choices around town are limited, and prices felt close to Cambridge city centre levels without the city centre to go with them. Deliveroo and Uber Eats come from Cambridge, so they’re expensive too. I paid almost £20 for fairly average fish and chips from a nearby takeaway, and they forgot the sauces. I didn’t try the hotel food because the menu looked limited, though I heard it was good.

I picked the Holiday Inn for the price, since it was £100 less than the Belfry Hotel where I was working the next day. It looked almost brand new and had plenty of free parking. Abbie gave me a lovely welcome and talked me through the hotel’s benefits, including free use of the gym up the road. The room was lovely, with a big bed, lots of sockets, and an iron and board. They also offer free forgotten essentials like toothpaste. I slept well. There was a free breakfast available, but I didn’t try it.

Nikki at the front desk gave great service, answering questions at reception and handling a busy breakfast room impressively. There’s plenty of parking, and the hotel was clean, comfortable, and convenient, as I’d expect from this brand. Breakfast was good, though the choices were exactly the same each day, and a few things had run out near the end of service.

We had a lovely stay from check-in onward. The manager was warm and friendly, and an early check-in was available, which helped us a lot. The hotel feels new and modern, the air conditioning worked well, and it was quiet. No complaints, and I’d return if I needed to.
