Ebury Hotel

The location, friendly staff, and reasonable price were all good, and we didn’t spend much time in the lodge while visiting the city. Still, it felt more worn than we expected: stains on the walls, a messy picture frame, a damaged chair, and a TV that only partly worked. We’d invited friends to join us for the weekend, so it was disappointing that the place didn’t match what we thought we’d booked through booking.

The room was roomy, clean and warm, maybe too warm, with a good shower and a jacuzzi bath. The decor is dated and the place could do with modernising. Decent value for a stay, as long as you’re not looking for frills.

We arrived hoping there might be a room after other booking platforms had let us down, and the staff helped us out. They and the manager were so helpful throughout that we ended up extending our stay to ten days. We visited in September, and Canterbury is a perfect location for a visit. I can’t praise the team enough.
