The lift problem on Saturday morning was handled well. They put up signs for the service lift, and a staff member met us on the first floor and showed us to the restaurant. It only lasted a short time and didn't cause us trouble. We had a lovely executive room on the 10th floor with a fantastic view. Breakfast had loads to choose from, including pastries, cereal, yoghurt, continental items and a full cooked breakfast. Dinner and dessert were delicious too, and we finished the evening with drinks and cocktails at the bar. The staff who served us were so friendly. The Clayton is in a great spot, about a minute from the train station and close to bars, restaurants and shops. We came away with nothing but praise for the staff and would definitely recommend it. We can't wait to return. The one thing my partner and I would change is the music in the bar and restaurant in the evening. It was awful, but it did make us laugh.

The breakfast was the only meal we tried. It was good, with a choice and quality that left everyone pretty happy, though it wasn't amazing. There was Guinness, lager and cider at the bar, but it would have been nice to have ale on tap. It's clean and modern, and the location is excellent, right in the centre and handy for bars and an overnight stay. We parked at the nearby rail station. There were lots of rugby fans around, but the atmosphere was sociable rather than rowdy. I had a few minor communication hiccups. I booked through Booking.com instead of directly, which may have contributed.

The smooth check-in and thoughtful help from the team stood out. Wachi, the Night Manager, provided truly exceptional hospitality and made a lasting impression. From arrival, guests are met with warmth and professionalism, and the staff are attentive, courteous and ready to help with a smile. The place is clean, comfortable and well organised. You can see care in the details, and requests are handled promptly. Wachi’s service reflects high standards and reliability, and made the whole experience pleasant and memorable.

We got a good price through the Black Friday sale and were pleased with our two-night stay. The room was comfortable and clean. The bins were emptied and fresh towels provided, though the water bottles weren't replaced for day two. Staff on shift were friendly and helpful. Check-in and checkout through the phone were easy. We'll be back.

I was at a conference on the second floor, so I can't comment on the rooms. The buffet food was hot and really tasty, and the facilities were clean and well kept. Whenever I spoke with staff, they were very friendly. It's an easy place to find on foot, less than five minutes from the train station.
