The restaurant team deserve credit. I had dinner there both nights, with excellent, efficient service. The salmon had crisp skin and flaky flesh, though a few more salad leaves and cherry tomatoes would've been nice. The steak was perfectly cooked, the peppercorn sauce delicious, and the smooth, tasty mashed potato portion could've been smaller. The 15% discount made the difference for me. The wine list could use some fine-tuning, and there were no port options. Housekeeping standards were well above average. The team members looking after our rooms were warm and caring, and the bar and kitchen staff deserve a mention too. Lily and the night receptionist were wonderful ambassadors for the brand and organization, calm and collected under pressure, cheerful and polite. Best compliments to management and stakeholders. We'll be back very soon.

The location made getting around Cardiff easy, with most major attractions, shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance, so we didn't need transport. Breakfast was another highlight, with plenty of fresh, tasty choices. Staff across the hotel were consistently welcoming, friendly and helpful. I stayed at the Leonardo Hotel Cardiff for 3 days in June 2025. On arrival I was pleasantly surprised by an upgrade to a King Suite. It was spacious, modern and comfortable, with all the expected amenities, and everything was clean and well maintained. Birds outside were noisy in the morning, especially if you tried to open the curtains. It was a bit disruptive, though not a major issue. A small tip: bring any over-the-counter medications you might need, just in case. I had a very enjoyable stay and would happily return on my next visit.

The staff I met were all wonderful, and my room was excellent. They made my work trip much easier and more comfortable. I travel to Cardiff for work several times a year and will absolutely stay here again. Many thanks!

Our room's view wasn't great, but the room had all the useful extras: a coffee machine, still and sparkling water, tea-making supplies, a small fridge, safe, and ironing board and iron. There were lifts and stairs, and the hotel was reasonably quiet. The bed was comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and they'd decorated the room with balloons. Very sweet. The location is handy for shopping areas, malls and cafes, and an easy walk from Cardiff Castle, the museums and Bute Park. The Leonard hotel has a restaurant for breakfast, dinner and drinks, plus room service.

I've been a loyal guest of Leonardo hotels, traveling about four times each year and choosing one of their properties each time. Over the past five years my stays have generally been okay, though the air conditioning sometimes turned off. This stay was far worse and extremely disappointing. I chose Leonardo because the rooms have air conditioning. For three nights in a row, it switched itself off about every two hours. I kept waking around 1am, 3am, 5am, 7am and 8am, which badly disrupted my sleep. Last night was especially frustrating. I called reception three times at 3:18am, but nobody answered, even though I knew they were aware I was calling. I tried to get back to sleep. At 5am the air conditioning was technically on, but the airflow was very weak and the room stayed hot and stuffy. I called again, hoping they could adjust it, and still got no answer. The central air conditioning is controlled by reception, so this was within the hotel's control and wasn't dealt with. A fan was eventually brought up, but the room was still uncomfortable. The windows don't open, so there was no ventilation. I don't understand why guests should have to help the hotel save energy while staying in a room. We choose Leonardo for comfort and relaxation, not to save them electricity at night. Otherwise, what's the point of running a hotel for guests? Since the pandemic I've noticed what seems to be the same issue in many Leonardo hotels, with air conditioning shutting off automatically at night. Reception may try to extend it for a few hours, but the experience is still disappointing. As a returning guest who has consistently chosen the brand, I expected better service, real solutions and a comfortable place to rest. This stay fell far below what I'd expect from a four-star hotel.
