The reservations team were outstanding, especially Bieby. The service he gave is the reason I'll return, and I've rebooked with him for August. The room was spacious and very clean, with excellent amenities and a huge, comfortable bed. The hotel was modern and spotless, and the spa facilities were great. Then breakfast let the whole stay down. The breakfast hall was chaotic from the start. We were shown to a table and offered tea and coffee, but nobody explained whether we should serve ourselves or wait to order. No one was queuing, so after waiting for drinks that never came, we went to the counter. There was very little choice for such a large hotel. The beans were cold, they were waiting for bacon to cook, and the only option we found was scrambled egg, which my partner couldn't eat because it was too buttery. They said they'd bring bacon to our table, but it never arrived. We still hadn't had our tea or coffee, which finally turned up just as we were about to leave. Honestly, I could have had a better breakfast at Greggs for less. Such a shame after a very good stay up to that point. I'll stay again, but won't pay extra for breakfast next time.

We had a great stay, with nice rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and a pleasant breakfast service. It's an easy walk into the city centre. I was gutted to have forgotten my swimming shorts and miss trying the spa. Hope to go again sometime.

I've been here twice with friends for spa weekends and can't wait to return. The hotel is excellent, with a great location, helpful staff, lovely facilities and nice rooms. The afternoon tea is great, the spa is lovely and the treatments are great.

The location was handy for the city centre, but quiet enough for a restful night. The hotel is nice, with large rooms, though the layout could be better. The huge bed leaves a large mirror in front of it that isn't needed, while the TV is tucked into an unviewable corner. In the bathroom, I'd have preferred a large shower or wet room instead of a huge bath and tiny shower cubicle. The pool felt a bit like the Wild West. There were no direction signs for swimmers, and the large columns running along it were a nightmare. I also think the tray room charge for food delivered to the room is too much and should be scrapped, considering the room cost and that not everyone uses room service.

We came for our Christmas meal and the service was outstanding. The food looked as lovely as it tasted. The place was spacious and quiet despite being busy, and the prices were good too. Recommended. We'll be back.
