Radisson Blu Cardiff

We paid approximately £523 for three nights, and the service and care didn’t match that price. The first morning, we asked for the room to be serviced while we explored the city. When we returned, the cleaning was poor: the tissue boxes were out of their holders, the bedding hadn’t been refreshed, and the same sheets and blanket had just been pulled over instead of being properly made. At arrival, the room was also missing basic items: slippers, complimentary water, and a dental kit. I had my own toothbrush, but there was no toothpaste, and it took four attempts to reach staff and ask for some. That response falls short of the reputation Radisson used to have. I know the brand may no longer present itself as top-tier, but the pricing should still reflect the service. The mismatch was stark throughout our stay. The same number of nights now shows a price of £272.

The room was nice enough, but the entrance and public areas are looking tired. Getting in early was lucky, since a huge queue was building behind us while check-in was being handled manually. We also didn’t get complimentary water, which we’d expected after having it at Marriott earlier in the week. Late last night, around 11:30, we went to the bar for Baileys, but they’d run out. They didn’t have Tia Maria either, and the barman didn’t apologize or suggest another option, so we went to bed. A shame, because this hotel used to be good. I wouldn’t recommend it now; Marriott is much better at similar prices.

For the price, I didn’t find this a relaxing stay. The bed was rock hard, and the pillows and duvet were barely comfortable. The headboard also looked worn and in need of care. Paying £25 for parking felt steep too. At least the room faced the railway line, which gave us some entertaining train spotting.

I was here for work, and this is honestly one of my top five hotels. The room was stylish, comfortable, and spotless, with nothing to complain about. The rest of the hotel was immaculate too, and the staff were welcoming, friendly, and professional from the moment I arrived. Room service and breakfast were both fresh, delicious, and prompt. If I’m back in Cardiff, I’ll stay here again without hesitation.
