The staff were polite, friendly and helpful throughout, and they were especially kind when I left my phone behind after checking out. I called, they secured it in the room, and when I returned they handed it back with a warm smile. I really appreciated that. The hotel is a converted residential home, making it a cheap, comfortable option for a short stay in Wales. It can be hard to spot among the surrounding houses at first, and you reach the parking area by a small lane behind the building. The bus stop right outside is handy if you’re backpacking or relying on public transport. The hotel closes at around 9 PM and opens again around 8 AM. Breakfast wasn’t available during my stay because of some issues. A comfortable, budget-friendly stay in a useful location for a quick trip.

The pillow feels like a bag of potatoes, and if you’re over six foot your feet touch the bottom of the bed. It’s a reasonable walk from Cardiff centre, which is what I expected for the cheaper price.

Just outside the city centre, so the location worked perfectly for me. Lovely host and a bargain for an overnight stay in Cardiff. Thoroughly recommend.

The beds were comfortable, the bedding crisp, and the en-suite was lovely, with fresh towels both days, plenty of hot water and nice-smelling shower gel. The owner gave us a lovely welcome to room 11 on the ground floor. We were in Cardiff for two nights for a Castle concert, Pet Shop Boys, and some shopping. We only needed a room, but got more than that. People have mentioned the busy road, Newport Road. With the windows shut, the noise stayed outside. We arrived late and the car park was full, but we found plenty of unrestricted parking on the residential street just a short walk from the front door. We’ve decided to come back to Tanes.

Good for a night, and there was no breakfast available at the time. The room was small and didn’t have its own bathroom, but with so few guests around that wasn’t a problem for me. The interior is pretty and feels good quality. It was quiet and clean, around a 35-minute walk from Cardiff Central station. It was pretty pricey, at least during the Lana del Rey concert.
