The village was so quiet, and with a car we could get to the bigger towns nearby and see plenty around the area. We ate at the hotel restaurant and loved it, delicious food served piping hot with a smile. Breakfast was spot on, and they were very accommodating. Our spacious family room was lovely and very clean, with comfortable beds. The June weather wasn't great, though, and with the heating on a timer we felt cold in the evenings. Even so, we'd definitely come back. Thank you.

The bedroom was delightful, and the breakfast room had lovely decor. Breakfast was great, and the coffee really topped it off. We booked a stay after a gig in Castle Carrock. We didn't have time to try the pub or evening food, but the young woman who checked us in was pleasant and helpful.

The evening meal was very good, well cooked and nicely portioned, with a few specials alongside the regular menu. Staff were pleasant, helpful and attentive throughout. We stayed overnight after a nearby meeting, as the accommodation was on our way home. The rooms were reasonably priced compared with other places we'd considered, and breakfast was included. A fabulous night away.

The room was spacious, had a lovely feel, and breakfast was excellent with lots of options. Sam was so kind when we arrived late, even giving my child a lollipop. Emma, who was working at breakfast, was just as friendly and accommodating. We had a wonderful stay and I'd highly recommend The String of Horse.

The meals were delicious, the rooms very clean, and the atmosphere cosy. The staff were so kind. It's a long way from the busy centres, but you can really hear the silence and enjoy the dark outdoors.
