County Hotel

The bar was comfortable and the service laid back, which suited our relaxed lunch. We chose it over the dining room this time. We had butternut squash, sourdough with butter, and two types of coffee. The lunch was lovely and reasonably priced. The venue is nicely furnished, the toilets were clean, and the staff attentive. We both liked the place and will be back. We also checked it out for our business meeting next Friday, and the location is very convenient for that. Parking was excellent. I have a blue badge, and there were adequate parking and toilet facilities. I'm not great on my feet, but the concrete car park and slightly raised decking worked for me, as did the thresholds. One observation: the bar and restaurant menus have quite similar food and the same prices, though their styles differ. The restaurant menus are delicately charming, while the bar menu is glossy and a little louder, but still fits in. We're sure our next planned visit will be well catered for. The rooms were warm and comfortable. We skipped breakfast because it seemed a bit expensive. The location is handy, very close to the train and bus stations and about a ten-minute walk from the city centre.

The rooms felt more like 3* and could probably use a refurb, but the service was 10*. Andra and Yulia in particular were so accommodating with my wedding stress and the last-minute guest bookings. I've never had such professional, friendly service at a hotel. Please give them a raise, and thank you both for making our wedding weekend so wonderful. Our wedding venue had no accommodation, so we stayed here for two nights with our wedding guests. We'll definitely come back, perhaps for our anniversary! Ratha 🤗

The noise from the major junction beside our room is overwhelming. We hear every passing car, horn and pedestrian, as well as conversations and music from the apartment opposite. I'm shocked they haven't done soundproofing. We're staying in one of the apartments behind the hotel, and I'm not sure how they got a four-star rating; three stars at best. The apartment is basic and only "tidy". There are paint marks on the floor, the carpet is dirty, material sticks out from the bottom of the bed, and the doorstop material is gone. The area around every doorframe is sticky and dirty. The kitchen sponge has clearly been used repeatedly and is falling apart. The kitchen bin is broken and its lid doesn't seal. For what we paid, I'm appalled. We're booked for one week and this is only our first night, but we're seriously considering changing hotels.
