Ellenborough Park

We spent Saturday out on a clear, beautiful winter day, walking down to Cheltenham race course, then enjoying the spa until 7pm. Sunday began with the gym. It’s small, but definitely up to standard. We followed that with a swim and a proper 5* breakfast. Ellenborough park hotel has lovely grounds as well as great facilities. If you want a peaceful, beautiful break with fresh air, good food and spa treatments, this is the place. I couldn’t recommend it enough and hope to return for Cheltenham festival in the future. A truly perfect weekend getaway!!!

Room 5 is in the original manor house, and ours was spacious and beautifully furnished. The bed was very comfortable, and the large bathroom had both a bath and a separate shower. The floors slope and creak a little, as you’d expect in a historic building, and that’s part of its charm. The food was excellent, and the team happily accommodated dietary and personal preferences. I’m Canadian and was delighted by my stay at Ellenborough Park. The hospitality team were warm, attentive and eager to help. Special thanks to the bar and restaurant team for their lovely service, and to Laura in the spa for a blissful Japanese Head Spa treatment. I’d read a few less flattering reviews before booking and wondered what to expect. After seeing the place for myself, I think those comments are utterly misplaced. The property is beautifully maintained, clearly signposted, and has attentive, capable people nearby to assist. Thank you to everyone at Ellenborough Park for a relaxing, memorable stay. It’s a special place, and I look forward to returning. You’re fortunate to have such a great team.

Breakfast was the one small letdown. The service was great, but the food didn’t reach the same luxury level as the rest of the stay. The kipper in particular came on its own and looked a bit underwhelming on the plate. We were there for a racing weekend, and the location couldn’t have been better. The connection to the racecourse made the logistics stress-free. Staff were professional and welcoming throughout, and the entertainment was a lovely touch that lifted the atmosphere. Everything else was great!

We were really looking forward to sitting by the fireplace, so it was disappointing to be told we couldn’t sit there even though it looked available. It was a brief service misstep in an otherwise flawless stay. The rooms were beautifully designed, with luxurious linens and every comfort thought of. The spa and dining were outstanding, and staff were attentive, professional and genuinely welcoming throughout. We loved the charming atmosphere and elegant common spaces, which felt both grand and cozy. We left relaxed and cared for, and would happily return. The hotel is well worth a visit.
