Our room was spacious, comfortable and well equipped, with a particularly comfortable bed. The spa was a highlight, especially the outdoor infinity pool overlooking the grounds. It was a peaceful place to unwind, and the facilities were clean and well maintained. The hotel sits in beautiful countryside with incredible views. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious and well presented. Breakfast had plenty of variety. Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa made for a relaxing and enjoyable stay, and we'd happily go back.

The grounds are stunning, but the hotel building looks tired and in need of renovation. We visited Shrigley Hall Hotel on 26/02/26 using a £36 Groupon voucher for afternoon tea. We arrived at our booked time and were shown to our table. Tea or coffee came after about ten minutes, then we waited roughly half an hour for the food. Nobody checked if we wanted refills, even though our drinks were finished. When it arrived, the food was extremely disappointing. The sandwiches were four slices of cheap bread cut into nine small pieces. The bread was stale, and the fillings seemed basic: margarine with egg, tuna and processed ham like budget supermarket brands. The two scones looked like they came from a supermarket packet, with a small pot of what also seemed like cheap jam. The cream tasted synthetic. The cakes were partly defrosted, watery and clearly had been frozen before, with very little flavour. The afternoon tea was very substandard. I'd challenge management to try the current offering themselves and ask honestly if it's worth £36. We won't return and wouldn't recommend this venue for afternoon tea. I've since seen similar negative reviews, so there may be an ongoing quality issue with this particular offering.

I went with my mum and sister for an early Mother's Day treat on the springtime renewal package, and we loved every minute. Everything was clean, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The outdoor pool was incredible at 38 degrees, and the exfoliating massage was really relaxing. The bar staff were kind and attentive. I genuinely can't understand the negative reviews, and we can't wait to go back.

The room could use some maintenance: there were stains on the carpet and walls, ripped curtains and loose fittings, and it felt a little tired. That wouldn't put me off returning regularly, though. The welcome, food, location and facilities were all great. Reception was on it from arrival to departure, and the staff were friendly without being pushy. Spa staff were on top form too. The catering team were amazing. My friends and I came for afternoon tea, and they handled my friends' very specific requests with no fuss, exceeding their expectations. After they left, my husband and I stayed the night and used the facilities. We loved it and are planning another stay over Christmas weekend. If I were on Four In A Bed, I'd mark the room down, but I'd definitely recommend staying here. Thank you to everyone who looked after us, you amazing, gorgeous people.

My wife and I booked one night for my birthday, hoping to use the spa and get some time away together. With two dogs, pet-friendly places are hard to find, so this hotel appealed to us. The dog-friendly rooms are in a separate section that felt more like a motel than the grand, charming main house. I understand why dog rooms might be elsewhere on the property, but at nearly £200 for the room, evening meal and breakfast, it wasn't the experience we'd hoped for. It's good that the hotel welcomes pets, but the quality of those rooms disappointed us for the price. The stay was fine, just not as special as we expected.
