Lucknam Park, Emblems Collection

I was a bit nervous about riding a horse, but the team made me feel safe and reassured, and I’m really glad I tried it. The grounds are beautiful, and the walled gardens, restaurant and Japanese-style ponds make for a peaceful setting where we could focus and reset for our important annual meeting. I was lucky to visit by invitation and was genuinely blown away by the experience, largely because of the team. Everyone was warm and attentive, and made the stay feel personal and easy from start to finish. The food was incredible too. I’m very grateful for the chance to stay here. It’s a special place, made even better by the people who helped us feel comfortable.

The staff were so warm and welcoming, and they kindly let us check in early. That made a busy day feel relaxed and easy. Every detail seemed thoughtful, and we couldn’t have picked a better place for such a special occasion. My fiancé and I stayed at Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa for my birthday and our recent engagement. We brought a photographer to take some wedding photos in the beautiful surroundings. The whole experience went beyond what we expected, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

The grounds, spa and pool, stables and food are the reasons I’d consider coming back. We were there for five days and four nights, eating breakfast and dinner on site every day. The Walled Garden dinners were very good, but slow. One evening, my son hadn’t ordered a starter like the rest of us and waited an hour for his main. He was starving, and someone should have asked if he wanted it brought out with the starters. Dinner took over two hours on average. It also felt quite impersonal. Even after several days, it seemed nobody knew us when we came back. On our last morning a fire alarm woke us at 5am. Someone checked the room above ours and reassured us it was a false alarm, but there was no formal apology at breakfast. At a hotel of this quality, I expected something in the morning. We’re a family and came for a comfortable half-term break. Lucknam Park was ideal for that, with superb facilities and very professional staff. We used the spa twice and visited both restaurants. Our equestrian experience was cancelled due to the weather, but we still went to the stables, where the staff were lovely. The rooms felt grand but cosy. David at Howey Jones was brilliant and made dinner a great experience even for the teen and tween. I travel all over the world, and this is the first hotel in the UK I’d consider returning to.

We made good use of the spa, especially the indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pool and thermal cabins. I particularly liked the Japanese salt room. The afternoon tea in the cosy bar was lovely, with delicious sandwiches, savouries, scones and patisseries. We also had breakfast and dinner at Walled Garden Restaurant. Lucknam Park is a charming country house set among gorgeous gardens that are lovely to explore. We enjoyed seeing the horses at the on-site equestrian stables. Everyone we met was friendly and genuinely welcoming. Our Manor Room was beautifully appointed, spotless and incredibly comfortable. We had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to return.
