Dolphin Rooms

I was driving up from London because of a family emergency and asked to check in late. The staff member refused, saying he’d been up since 7am and was alone. I pointed out that I’d paid for four nights and that, as a customer, his hours weren’t my issue, but he said I couldn’t check in that night. When I asked for that night’s cost back so I could stay somewhere else and return for the other three nights, he refused. I had to pay for another place for the night without getting a refund. The staff were rude and unprofessional. Utterly despicable and diabolical.

I found Kristian extremely rude, and the service was poor and unhelpful. When I said I needed more assistance, he told me he’d been working since 8am, as if that excused how he acted. Refunds aren’t allowed either, which feels very unfair. It’s a family-run business, and based on my experience, they don’t seem to care about service. If you need help outside regular hours, is anyone even available?

The staff were cheerful and friendly, and I’d stay here again. Breakfast was a good English breakfast, served in the main hotel across a tiny road in a lovely setting. The room itself was spacious, clean and really good, with comfy beds, a good shower room, tea and coffee, Sky TV and free WiFi. It’s on a quiet residential side street just off the main promenade. The exterior is understated, so don’t let that put you off.

It was in a good spot for town, though finding the converted terraced house was a bit difficult. Since it’s separate from the main hotel, you don’t see much of the staff unless you go over there. The maid service was very good and the staff I met were friendly. The room was clean and big enough for me and my niece, but the bathroom was very small and had a lot of limescale or marks that didn’t look clean. Parking was a problem too. Although it said free parking, I couldn’t get a space on the street and ended up paying each day.
