We didn’t get far past the shabby, damp reception before being asked for an extra £25. I’d booked a room for my wife and me, but for some reason it was booked as a double room for one person. Whatever the reason, she wanted another £25. I could understand paying extra for another breakfast, but her attitude and the very dubious four-star rating put us off, so we decided not to stay. We couldn’t get a refund. Maybe the extra money could go toward cleaning up the frontage or looking into the damp across the ceilings, which several others have also noticed. I really wouldn’t recommend this unless your standards are extremely low.

We had a few days away with our dog, and Rhos on Sea had everything we needed for a weekend break. There are some lovely shops and pubs, and a dog-friendly beach nearby that's great for walks. The hosts were great, the rooms fairly basic but quite large and had everything you needed. Breakfast was freshly cooked and great each day. Good value for money, and we look forward to going again. Thank you.

A lovely place with a great host. It’s pet friendly and close to the beach and shops.

The room itself was in rough shape: stained carpet, marked walls, cracked bathroom tiles, a thin spring mattress that was uncomfortable, and blinds that still let in light at night. We only tried the Welsh breakfast once. It wasn't good, and a cafe in Rhos does a much better one with a drink for about £10. We couldn't tell where the ingredients came from. The booking was confusing too. The tariff showed £70 a night with cooked breakfast, while the booking site showed £80. My wife had been quoted £50 for a double, but when we arrived they said there'd been a misunderstanding and asked for £90, saying it was for a triple room, which we hadn't requested. We agreed to £80 and decided to give it a chance. We visit Rhos often and usually stay at the Danilton or Travelodge, so we tried the Northwood this time. Other guests we met seemed happy and appeared to stay regularly, but we definitely wouldn't return. The guest house needs a lot of care inside and out, as other reviews have said.

The couple who run the place were lovely, and the location is great. We brought our two dogs for their first seaside holiday, and they loved the huge dog-friendly beach just down the road. Highly recommend it.
