The Erskine Arms

We really liked our stay at the Erskine Arms and would gladly return. Housekeeping was thorough, and the service was excellent throughout. We had dinner once and breakfast each morning, with delicious food and friendly, attentive servers. There’s a nice shared space with tea, snacks, tables and chairs, too. We spent three nights in the Superior Balcony King Room in the Y Capel. It was clean and comfortable, and within walking distance of the castle and other downtown attractions. Parking in the Y Capel lot was convenient, though the spaces were tight. We occasionally heard faint noise from other rooms, but it didn’t bother us at all. We’d highly recommend it for a visit to Conwy.

The old phone and cigarette machine were such cool touches 💛 The pub looked lovely inside and out when we went another day, and there was a pretty good beer selection. It was very expensive, though I suppose that goes with how upmarket it feels. We didn’t try the food. The first time we tried to visit, a sign said it was closed to customers who weren’t staying at the pub, so we came back a few days later.

We hadn’t booked, but got a table quickly in the dog-friendly lower bar, which had a great atmosphere. The food came hot and was spot on. We had a Korean meat starter, then risotto and a bacon chop, all really delicious. Portions were good, and there’s a nice range of dishes on the menu.

The roast beef brisket was top notch, the best roast dinner we’ve had out. We’ve travelled all over the UK, and this one is our number one. The halloumi and pork bites starters also had amazing flavour combinations. It’s a beautiful pub in Conwy, the staff were pleasant, and we’d definitely return.
