It’s in a secluded spot surrounded by attractive woodland, so it feels calm and peaceful after a long day. The staff I spoke with were all warm, welcoming and helpful. There’s a bar and restaurant on site, with food available 24 hours a day. The rooms are in a separate block opposite reception, giving the place a US motel look. The precast concrete buildings have a 60s/70s feel and may seem dated, but the rooms are well insulated from noise. It was surprisingly quiet, without the creaky floors you get in many newer hotels. The property looks to have been refurbished recently. The car park has been resurfaced, and security fencing and a motorised entrance gate make the site feel safer. Inside, my room was spotless, simple and comfortable, and clearly looked after by the cleaners. A few ground-floor rooms have a damp smell, though they aren’t dirty or mouldy, so I’d choose a first-floor room if possible. It may not look luxurious or flashy, but for the price, the comfort, quiet and service make it five-star value.

The staff seemed friendly, and there’s free Wi-Fi and parking. I also liked the idea of the American-style rooms, which could be really good. But the cleaning was a zero for me. There were marks on the sheets, so I moved to the other bed and turned its sheets over too, just in case. I was glad I’d worn winter pajamas as a barrier. The carpet and bathroom floor were dirty, and after high-pressure water splashed over the basin, I used a towel to mop it up. The towel was filthy afterward. The room made me feel itchy. I know it’s a two-star hotel meant for showering and sleeping, but it was still dirty. A neighbour played loud music that sounded like my old washing machine before I replaced it. I picked this place for the location near my appointment, the price and free parking, and was glad it was just one night. Next time I’ll pay more for a room. I’d tell a friend to look elsewhere.

Reception was clean and pleasant, but the rooms were more like dated chalets and not very clean. The pillows smelled of stale smoke, and there was a damp smell in the room. It felt dull and uninviting. We’d paid for breakfast, but no staff member acknowledged us as we came in, ate or left. Later, staff were smoking while sorting linen for cleaning the rooms. That explains the smell, and for non-smokers it’s horrible trying to sleep with stale smoke in the room.

The area is peaceful and the room was tidy and clean, which mattered most. Staff were polite and helpful, making the stay pleasant overall. The hotel doesn’t quite match the usual Ibis standard, though: the carpet is noticeably worn and the bed feels overused. For the price, it’s a fair, convenient option for a short stay.

We stopped here for a night to break up a long drive home from France. It’s not somewhere I’d choose for a special stay, but it suited our needs and we’d return in the same situation. The location is great, with lots of parking, and the secure railings and electric gates felt reassuring. We had a downstairs room with the dogs, which worked well. It was quiet, the beds were clean and comfortable, and the young man at reception was friendly and helpful. The room was dated and peeling, though I chose not to inspect it too closely. None of the sockets worked. We were offered another room, but we’d already gone to bed and were too tired to move. I’m not sure why the fuse couldn’t be reset, but was told it wasn’t possible. The restaurant and bar were basic but clean, and we were happy with the prices. The food wasn’t good: our fish and chips seemed to be some kind of flat fish in breadcrumbs, and the cooking oil didn’t smell fresh. You could smell the kitchen. We didn’t try breakfast beyond toast and coffee, which were good. We wouldn’t eat there again.
