For the price, I’m happy enough, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with the site. The older room I’m in is quiet enough, though the walls don’t block sound. A second door helps keep out the usual traffic noise, and having the car park right outside is handy. You need to register for parking at reception through a website. Check-in and booking were easy, and getting my key card re-magnetised was straightforward too. There’s always been someone at reception when I’ve gone to the main building. The automated pre-check-in reminder emails were useful, and AG Hotels also contacted me by phone and email beforehand about corporate accounts, which felt like a personal touch. Breakfast is included, which I appreciated. It’s a cold continental spread with cereal, fruit juice, tea, coffee, porridge pots and fruit, enough to get the day started. The place is understandably quiet at this time of year while improvements are underway. I’m in an older room during renovations, which haven’t affected me. The new rooms look like they’ll be very classy and modern, and I’m excited to see them.

This could become a clean, minimalist motel that fills the gap left by Travelodge, but there’s a lot more work to do before I’d recommend it. It closed several years ago and only recently reopened as the Crossway Hotel in September 2025. It feels like it opened much too soon. The recent “refurbishments” seem very basic. The electronic door locks and Wi-Fi are the only new things I noticed, maybe the smoke alarms too. If the beds are new, they’re the cheapest of the cheap. The linen and towels are new, but everything else feels old and worn, and cleanliness overall is poor. The bathroom was mostly clean, though there were stray hairs and mould around the seals. In the bedroom there were cobwebs, dusty light fittings and surfaces that felt a bit tacky. The walls are paper thin with no soundproofing, and you can hear the pump from the room next door whenever someone runs the water.
It’s a bit dated, but the cleaners are doing a great job. Laura browne was especially helpful and happy to assist. I’d visit again.
The room was very good and comfortable, and the staff were so helpful, nothing felt like too much trouble. I’ll definitely stay again.
Nithin welcomed us like family. He’s a really experienced host and a credit to the company. Thank you!
