There was a pianist playing during lunch, and the service was excellent. We had a really good Sunday meal, with excellent food and a menu that had so many appealing choices it was hard to decide. It was a refreshing change to find that much variety. I’d definitely visit again.

We had dinner here as a group of three while I was staying over. The old building has a great, quirky feel, there was plenty to choose from on the menu, and the staff were lovely. Thanks very much.

My wife’s chicken was lovely, and the service was excellent. My roast beef, though, was a real letdown. It was full of gristle, and the bits I could eat were very chewy. The vegetables were one very thin carrot, one very thin parsnip and a lot of broccoli. The roast potatoes were fine. We had two Cokes, two desserts and two coffees as well as the mains, and the bill came to £75. A bit pricey for what we got.

The pub is gorgeous, with lovely decor and so much history. The staff are welcoming and really nice. Zoe looked after me, and she was one of the sweetest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Her energy was unmatched. Gorgeous food and a beautiful atmosphere too. Can’t wait to come back for a third visit.
