Crewe Arms Hotel

The staff were helpful and polite, and the room was a good size with a TV, kettle and the basics for a comfortable stay. Food and drink choices are limited at the moment, but the hotel is still getting over having migraines stay and make a mess. It’s a good place to stay, or to eat and drink.

It’s right opposite the train station, so train enthusiasts should make a point of staying here. There’s free parking with plenty of spaces. Tesco Express, McDonald’s and loads of food delivery options are nearby. We went to Stoke on Trent and Nantwich, both about a 20-minute drive away, though we only had two days and didn’t get to see more of the area. The staff were lovely and the rooms, while not especially modern, had everything we needed and were very clean. The stairs look a bit dated, but they suit the building. We’d definitely stay again, especially for the price.

The staff went out of their way to help, and that’s what made the hotel a pleasure to stay in. Management really ought to thank them. Some rooms are very close to the trains, which I actually found comforting because it brought back memories of my grandad, who worked there as a driver for many years. The bathroom lights weren’t working, and when I asked for the bulbs to be changed, they had to ask housekeeping because maintenance doesn’t work weekends. The poor housekeeper had to climb a ladder to replace them. The hotel itself is friendly, warm and welcoming.

It was quite a nice hotel overall, and the place looked clean and pleasant. Still, it felt a little rough around the edges and could use some attention to detail. The windows were really draughty, and the bathroom floor tiles were cracked. The reception area smelled freshly painted, with a gloss smell that was a bit overwhelming.
