The White Horse

The roast was the best I’ve had in a long time, full of flavour and cooked really well. We’d had a family communication mix-up and found ourselves without a Sunday lunch booking, so we called the White Horse close to lunchtime and they fitted us into the bar. We were looked after so warmly that we ended up in a lovely quiet room at the back, with several staff members making us feel welcome and well cared for. My autistic son is very particular about food. They were completely fine with him bringing his own, and went out of their way to include him with his own plate and by making sure we were all comfortable. The garden play area kept the children happy too. We were already impressed with the service before the food arrived. Can’t wait to go back. Well done, everyone!

We enjoyed a one-night stay, including a very nice evening meal, though the portion was more than generous. Breakfast was great too. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable, but the radiator heat woke me at 2am. I’d suggest turning it down overnight.

After we’d booked a table, we arrived to find it unset and tucked away from the main restaurant. Drinks were left at the end of the table without anyone telling us what had arrived, so we had to pass them along ourselves. Food was handled the same way, simply put down with instructions to hand the plates around. It was average at best, poorly presented, and very overpriced. Staff spent 15 minutes standing and talking without checking on the tables, then spent the rest of our visit scrolling on their phones. After we finished, no one cleared the plates, even after we’d waited 20 minutes. A disappointing meal, overcharged and poorly served. We won’t be back.

We had a lovely two-night stay in a great location, with a cliff-top walk into Cromer and a sea view from our room. The food was really good, especially breakfast, and the staff were polite and very friendly. Some guests could be more considerate when heading back to their rooms, with banging doors and loud voices. That wasn’t anything to do with the White Horse.
