Those views are incredible, and the whole place has such a relaxed feel. My friend and I walked over from Wasdale on Sunday 22nd and were met with smiles and friendly faces. Everyone was helpful during our one night stay. The room was amazing, clean, and had a powerful shower, just what I needed to freshen up after the hike. I try Steak and Ale pie wherever I go, and this was hands down one of the best I’ve had. We’ll definitely be back!

The Walkers bar was my favourite place to eat, just through an opening by the bar area. It felt more relaxed, and there was a cracking log burner. Other walkers were pleasant and chatty, which was especially nice as I was on my own. I booked at the last minute and found a hidden gem. The Langdale fells make for a truly stunning setting, and the view from my window was beautiful. My room was standard, but it was all I needed. Staff were welcoming and attentive, and the locally sourced food was cooked fresh. Breakfast was first class, with Diane’s service spot on. There was plenty of room to eat in the lounge as well. A fantastic three nights away, and I’ll book again.

There are loads of walks nearby, a bus stops right outside, and the views are fantastic. We stayed one night while walking a section of the Cumbria Way, so didn’t use the car park since ours was a linear walk. The room was spacious, warm and had a nice view. We left some walking clothes and boots in the drying room outside overnight. Staff were friendly. We ate in the bar, and both the pie I had and my partner’s burger were enjoyable.

We loved the old worldly atmosphere, even though it’s by no means a modern hotel. The bed was very comfortable, and the hot shower was just what we needed after a long walk. Our double room had a private bathroom, garden view and plenty of space. We stayed five nights at this quiet hotel, surrounded by mountains and about 5 miles from Ambleside. There’s a small bar attached, with a lovely log fire in winter and a small menu of food and snacks. Breakfast was included in our rate, with a nice choice. Rooms are on the ground, first and second floors, though the second is only up a short flight of stairs. There’s no lift, but the lady at check-in offered to help us.
