Venues Staverton Park

The Staverton is always a comfortable place to stay, with clean, comfortable rooms and modern bathrooms. The food is great and the bar is beautiful. I’ve only taken off a star because, at the moment, you have to call reception from an outside line to order room service.

Katy at reception and the rest of the staff were helpful and efficient from the moment we checked in until we left. Our rooms were clean, a good standard, spacious and well laid out. Dinner was very nice and just what you’d expect. Before golfing, we’d ordered our three-course meal from the menu, and on arrival our 10% bar discount wristbands were ready too, always good to have. Our group of 16 came to Staverton Park for a Sunday drive and golf trip booked through YGT, with Sam as our contact. The prices were very competitive, and the trip was well organised. The course was in great shape considering the long dry summer. All the playing surfaces were in good condition, and the greens were flat and fast. It’s an undulating, tree-lined course with interesting holes and beautiful autumn colours. Some par 3s test you, and you need to keep the ball in play. Our rooms were roomy and comfortable. Highly recommend YGT and Staverton Park, and I’m sure we’ll return.

The restaurant host was exceptionally polite, helpful and accommodating, a real credit to the hotel. The rest of the staff seemed rushed and not especially friendly, which affected the meal. The food was expensive and not particularly memorable. Our room was pleasant, with spacious beds that were very comfortable, and the tea and coffee supplied were good quality. There were a few cracks on the walls that need attention. Reception staff seemed busy and gave us a leaflet instead of a personal welcome. The pool area was clean but could use some updates, and you have to walk outside from the room to reach it. There were some good points, especially the comfortable room and kind restaurant host, but other areas could be better. I’d consider staying again only if I had to.

The staff and location were lovely, and the beds were comfortable with clean sheets and towels. But the rooms felt dated and musty. There were stains on the furniture, worn carpet and furniture, and the bed runner was dirty, so I took it to reception. The shower curtain was shabby, and the shower drain made such a loud noise, like a barking dog. We were only there for one night to sleep, and I wouldn’t stay again.
