The location was perfect, and breakfast was well organised. The cooked food was quite greasy, but the rest was lovely. Reception had a long queue because the staff were extremely busy, though they were lovely. The room was disgusting. The shower was caked in mould and rust, and things were coming away from the ceiling, which felt dangerous. There were marks on the curtain, and the peephole was completely visible. You wouldn't expect that from such a big company. The lift needs a key card, and when mine stopped working, we had to wait for someone to get out before we could go in.

Breakfast had a good range of fresh food and was well organised. The staff were professional, friendly and ready to help, which added to the stay. My check-in was quick and smooth, and the hotel felt clean, modern and comfortable, with a relaxed atmosphere. The room was quiet and set up well for a good night's rest. Lonely Traveler Productions enjoyed the stay and would happily recommend Leonardo Hotel Derby for business or leisure.

I haven't stayed overnight, but it's a lovely spot to meet friends for a drink. The bar has a large lounge and serves nice coffees and other drinks. It's quiet, spotless, and the seats are comfortable, so it works well for a business conversation or a relaxed coffee with friends. The coffee is good, too, though there's no alternative milk.

The restaurant was a pleasant surprise, with two very good dinners. My room was a bit tired, but really comfortable and quiet enough. The gym was decent.

Service was weak, the food was poor for the prices, and the facilities felt out of date. Staff seemed in very short supply. At the bar, you had to ring a bell, while people rushed about without anyone clearly taking charge. Even basic things were missing from meals, like cutlery and condiments, and the quality was unacceptable. A bottle of water costing over £5 added to the sense of poor value. The rooms and shared areas feel stuck in the early 1990s, and badly need a major refurbishment or a complete overhaul. Prices aren't especially high, but similar rates at other hotels buy a much better experience. This is mid-range pricing for low-end quality. Not recommended.
