We had a great visit and are hoping to come back at Easter and again next Christmas. We chose this as a central place to meet some family friends for Christmas, and both the restaurant and accommodation were very good value. We stayed in the cottages opposite. The room looked a little tired, but the facilities were clean, they provided the travel cot we’d requested, the bed was comfortable and the room stayed warm. The shower pressure was very good as well. We all ate at the restaurant on Saturday evening. My husband and I shared the baked Camembert, then had the Christmas dinner for our main. We were still talking about how good the food was on the way home the next day. The staff were attentive and dealt with requests quickly, without making anything feel like a bother. We brought our three-month-old, and one staff member kindly offered to walk her around outside in the pram for us. We’d happily recommend the place as a meeting point.

The setting at The Priest House has loads of character and atmosphere, and works beautifully for the close-up magic I perform there. Guests tend to be relaxed and engaged, which says a lot about the environment the venue creates. From my perspective as a professional magician, working with The Priest House has been a great experience every time. The team are welcoming and organised, communicate clearly, and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. Their support makes me feel valued and lets me focus on giving guests the best magical experience I can. I’m proud to work with such a dedicated team and always look forward to coming back. We had a very tasty breakfast before heading home. The stay was enjoyable, with a view over the river, and we had drinks by the lovely open fire in the lounge after a short walk. The walk was brief because of the weather and time of year. WiFi was spotty, probably due to the location.

We used to stay here often under the previous owners, and it was lovely. This last visit was disappointing. Although the hotel is dog friendly, you can now only stay in the cottages, not the main hotel, and the damp smell in ours was unpleasant. You also pay extra to bring a dog. Check-in had a problem because they didn’t have the correct name, and the TVs are temperamental. I wouldn’t stay in the cottages again. If the place welcomes dogs, I feel you should be able to stay in the main hotel too.

The Sunday lunch was really good and nicely presented, and the staff were courteous and attentive. It’s a beautiful setting, and they gave us complimentary bubbles for a special birthday. Highly recommend.
