There were 46 of us, and the Christmas brunch came out hot and exactly as we'd pre-ordered. They handled the food allergies in our group really well too, which we appreciated. Katie and the rest of the staff were welcoming, polite and friendly throughout, and everything ran smoothly. The ballroom was lovely, and the decorations made the place feel festive. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We were all so happy with the visit that we'd give it seven stars out of five and definitely recommend it.

We had a superb meal in the bar, and the chef went above and beyond with my friend's complex dietary needs. Breakfast the next morning was delicious too. The staff were warm and terrific all the way through, making us feel nothing was too much trouble. We stayed one night in January 2026. In this very old building, each room has its own character, and ours was spotless, cosy and well appointed. The fluffy towels, luxury toiletries and hospitality tray were lovely touches, especially the Furniss biscuits. A good standard hotel that gets the little details right.

I've eaten here with friends three times. The first two meals were enjoyable, with good service and food quality and quantity. This latest time, my three friends enjoyed their meals, and I liked my starter, but my fish and chips were disappointing. The fish was only about the size of a goujon and nothing like the photos. I didn't say anything then because my friend was treating us, but at around £19.50 it wasn't worth it. I'm not sure I'll come back if a tiny piece of fish can be served without anyone thinking there's a problem.

That brisket of beef Sunday lunch tasted just like the food from my childhood. It was the tastiest roast I've had in years, and the waiter was friendly too. Had the best lunch here today. Thank you!

The cocktail menu was fab. I tried the Toffee Apple, possibly the best cocktail I've ever had. The food came quickly and piping hot, with some great vegan choices, and they handled my allergy well. There was an allergen guide available too. We stopped for lunch on our way back to Plymouth after a long day on public transport. It's a lovely, super cosy place with a proper English pub feel, and the staff were really nice and accommodating. I'll definitely visit again and again.
