Only a short walk from the centre, with good parking and very reasonable prices. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean, airy and well set up. The Art Deco look is amazing, it feels like stepping into a film set.

The food is what really makes this hotel stand out. Breakfast has a good spread and dinner is excellent quality, even though the menu isn’t huge. I’m staying here for five weeks, so the choices are starting to feel limited, but the daily specials help mix things up. The bar serves the usual drinks, though it’s a bit chilly in there, and the restaurant is cold too, so wear a thick cardigan. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It’s a fabulous 1920s Art Deco hotel in a suburb of Doncaster, with modern facilities including good WiFi, contemporary bathrooms with separate walk-in showers, and a really comfortable bed.

The staff were really nice, and the hotel is clean with very cool surroundings. I loved staying here, and this was my second visit in 10 years. The rooms are nice, but the floors squeak a lot and there’s no fridge. The shower swung between hot and cold.

The staff were the best part, especially Marcin at the bar. He made us delicious cocktails on both nights and, after we came back from our evening out on the second night, took the time to show us the ballrooms and talk about the hotel’s history, its founder and its owners. He clearly loves his work and made the stay memorable. The reception staff were lovely too. The restaurant served good food, including a tasty vegan pie, and the bar stays open for guests 24 hours. We booked a couple of nights in Doncaster and were surprised to find such a posh place. The decor around the lobby, bar, restaurant and adjoining rooms is quirky and distinctive. Our room was spacious and had nice touches like the tissue box and desk lamp. The bathroom was lovely, with a powerful hot shower and a separate bath. There was one bad point: a loud, annoying buzzing started at around 3am for about 10 minutes on both nights and woke us up. We mentioned it to reception at checkout, and they said they’d look into it. We’ll come back in large part thanks to Marcin.
