The room was comfortable and nicely appointed, which is why this remains one of our favourite hotels. We also had a superb Sunday lunch, and Gabriel, Oscar and Kate looked after the five of us so well. We’ll certainly be back.

My husband and the manager had secretly arranged a birthday stay for me at the white hart in Dorchester last week. Room 7 was spacious and clean, with a freestanding bath that I filled for a long, lovely soak. The building’s twists and turns gave it a quirky feel. If you’re after a corporate hotel, this isn’t the place, but you’d miss a hidden gem. We slept peacefully, without hearing any noise from the pub. In the morning, breakfast was hot and made to order. The staff were welcoming and took great care of us, nothing was too much trouble. Dinner was traditional and delicious. We had pie with triple cooked chips, bangers and mash, then shared crumble with custard, naturally. The portions were good value, and it tasted so good we didn’t want to leave any. They also have themed food nights on some evenings. We’d stay again. Thanks to everyone at the white hart!

The pub looked lovely with all its Christmas decorations, and the food was lovely too. There was a big choice of sweets. We had tea with Santa, and I was really happy with the service. Santa made his way around chatting with all the children and even posed for photos. We’ll definitely visit again.

The rooms are clean and spacious, and the bar feels warm and welcoming. Jonathan, the bar manager, goes well beyond what you’d expect. It’s been a while since I’ve had service this good. What I call good old-fashioned service is alive and well at the White Hart Dorchester on Thames.

We spent the evening chatting in the cosy bar and restaurant, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I recently stayed in one of the White Hart’s suites. The room was super cute and comfortable, with a recent redecoration and a queer twist that I loved.
