The location’s handy, near the station and a riverside walk, and the staff were friendly throughout the hotel. I really enjoyed my two-night stay, especially the excellent bed and the varied breakfast buffet. One thing made me uncomfortable: there were no toilet brushes in the rooms, which could be unpleasant for the cleaning staff.

We’d stayed at other Premier Inns and this wasn’t the same experience. Arriving at 2:35 pm, we were told quite clearly we’d have to wait 25 minutes before reception could deal with us. They did offer to hold our bags if we wanted to go explore. We waited, then got into a clean room stocked with tea and coffee, but it was cold, much like the welcome. The heating system was noisy, so it wasn’t the restful break we’d hoped for. The view over the Tay was nice. Breakfast at the Beefeater had a wide range of self-service choices, and the food was clean, but the floors were sticky. There was also a strange smell in the bar. We went to Broughtyferry, about 10 minutes by train at £3 each way, or roughly 35 minutes by bus. It’s a very nice area. Would we return? We had been repeat customers, but won’t come a third time. My advice is to read the reviews and decide with your eyes open.

The location is great, and the staff are friendly. The rooms were generally clean, but there’s room for improvement. When I first entered, there was a ball of human hair in the middle of the floor, and the hand soap bottle had black residue all around its rim. The automatic check-in machines failed for four groups who arrived at the same time, so they weren’t useful. Thankfully, the receptionists got everyone sorted promptly.

Back again on 2026-02-14, and it’s just as good. This time I had an accessible room, which was very good. It smelled nice, so they clearly know how to clean. Really good. It’s my second time here, and the hotel is fairly good. On my first visit, the guy at the door said someone had driven into the side of the hotel near room 1 the day before or that same day, so there’s some work going on outside the front of the building. Update 2026-02-12: still great rooms, a great view, fantastic. Give it a go.
