The Old Palace Lodge

The staff were super friendly, and there’s a bus stop just 20 metres from the entrance. I liked the very British feel and the barbecue area, which I assume has a gas fire. We stayed a couple of days. The room was clean, but our sheets and toilet towels weren’t changed, and the bathroom water was so hot we couldn’t shower.

Alex at reception was fantastic, professional, friendly, and genuinely helpful as soon as I arrived. The location worked perfectly for what I needed, and my deluxe room was genuinely nice and comfortable for the night. Breakfast was the one disappointment: just basic cereal, toast, and pastries, with no cooked option. A decent stay, though the breakfast selection could be better.

The location is great, right in Dunstable Town centre and close to M1. We were there as a couple to visit family from Christmas Day until after Boxing Day. The building is lovely, and our room was very nice, but housekeeping should be better. The safe had been left locked by the previous guests, and there were towels and toiletries for only one person, so we had to ask for more and collect them ourselves because there was no housekeeping over Christmas. There were no glasses for water either. The desk staff were pleasant enough, but we’re used to a higher level of customer service. If the staff and housekeeping improved, this place would definitely get more stars.

The rooms feel modern, and they’re clean and spacious. I especially liked having a bathtub. Breakfast was good and filling, too. It’s a stylish hotel with a lovely atmosphere and some old-style charm.
