The hosts were so lovely and helpful, and I'd definitely come back. The stairs are very steep, which makes sense in an older house, but is worth knowing. Breakfast was included and had to be ordered the night before from a limited menu. I was surprised by how much there was: a large bowl of porridge, a good cereal selection, a small English breakfast, a generous serving of scrambled eggs, toast, butter, jams and fresh fruit. The hosts checked if we needed anything else. The English breakfast and eggs arrived almost as soon as we started on the cereal and porridge, though. Our room and bathroom were spacious, with two very high single beds, bedside tables, a fridge, microwave, wardrobe, settee, table and chair, two lamps and a main light. Tea, coffee, water, biscuits, toiletries and tissues were provided, along with pristine white towels and flannels for each guest. The bedding was also white and clean-looking, but we did spot marks on it and the pillows. The beds were a bit too high for me, and the room needs some TLC. The window wouldn't close and stayed slightly open, so the room got cold.

A lovely, sweet host made us feel welcome. The place has a cute, homey feel, and breakfast was great and really filling.

We came up for a family party and stayed last night. The room was basic but spotless, with a hot shower and a comfy bed. Breakfast was cracking, and I'd happily stay here again.

We loved the beautiful room, and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was superb, and thanks for helping us choose restaurants to try. We hadn't expected the bus into Durham to be so quick and convenient from right outside the guest house. It's a lovely city, and we'll stay with you again on our next visit. Many thanks from Sue and Stuart.

Martin was a great help, and the accommodation was very pleasant. Breakfasts were cracking, with plenty of good quality food and a good menu. The pub next door was a bonus. It's a friendly local with good beer, a TV and sports bar, and a Monday quiz night. It wasn't rowdy, and it was due to start serving meals again from a proper kitchen. Enjoy!
