That little breakfast selection in the room was a nice touch. The pub was busy, with plenty of friendly customers, and the staff there were lovely. The IPA was good and well priced. We were staying for work, though, and the twin room let things down: the beds were uncomfortable and the shower barely trickled.

The rooms were clean and nicely furnished, and everyone working there was delightful, helpful, and chatty. The venue and location are lovely too. I haven't tried the food, which is why I'm giving it 4 rather than 5. It seems like a great relaxed place for a weekend stay.

We went to try the Thai menu and didn't stay at the hotel. The starters were so good we could've kept eating them all night: squid, corn fritters, satay chicken, sesame prawn toast, and duck rolls, served on a board for the four of us to share. For mains we had massaman beef curry, chicken massaman, and lamb panang. They were the best Thai dishes we've had outside Thailand. The food was cooked authentically but suited to a Western palate, with extra chopped chillies from the chef so we could add as much spice as we liked. Definitely recommend it. We'll be back.

The pub seemed cosy, and the staff were friendly, but the room was the worst we've had on our whole trip. It didn't feel clean, and the beds were horribly uncomfortable. There were stains on the sheets and pillowcases too. The furnace had been left on all day before we arrived, so the room was sweltering. The only fan was filthy with dust and clanged horribly the whole time it ran. No one was around at night to replace it. There are no cover screens on the windows, so opening them on the ground floor felt vulnerable and let bugs in. There's no fridge either. I feel bad saying all this because the staff were nice enough, but people should know what the room was like. The pub and accommodation are listed under the same name, so it's easy to assume the good ratings for the pub cover the rooms too. I'm sure the pub is great, but I can't say the same for the room.

Five stars for the food! We didn't get a photo because it vanished so fast. We had spicy beef fry and steak, with tuna to start. Absolutely mouthwatering. Go, it's a hidden gem!
